Gene Sharp authored the one of the most influential papers on non-violent revolution, called “From Dictatorship to Democracy” in 1993. His book was first published in Burma to aid the Karen peoples to overthrow the dictatorship of Myanmar after years of oppression. The book was well received and has since been re-published in many different languages on virtually every continent of this planet.
This book and this movie should be standard fare in every History/Political Science class in America, and even around the world. We need to have a deeper understanding of our foreign policy as it stands today. How did we get where we are? Why do we have the policies we are living with today? Why are we at war with Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan?
